Description:

Applications are invited for a 12 months fixed term Research Fellow post situated in the Engineering Faculty, the University of Nottingham.

This post will be part of the consortium for the project WingPulse supported by Cleansky and Airbus. The project offers a pioneering research in high-fidelity computation, reduced-order modelling, machine learning and their application to drag reduction with very low actuation energy on the next generation of aircraft.  

The researcher will focus on the development of data-based methods to optimize the flow control actuations, perform large-scale numerical simulations using high-performance computing facilities and engage with an ambitious and active research group. 

Candidates must have an understanding, and preferably direct experience, of one or more of the following areas:

·        fluid mechanics

·        computational physics

·        applied mathematics

Candidates must hold a PhD (or about to obtain) or equivalent in an appropriate field. They should have significant knowledge in CFD methods, machine learning, reduced-order modelling, and writing papers in top journals. They should be confident, have excellent R&D and communication skills and the ability to work in a team. 

This role is available on a fixed term basis for 1 year. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
