In this role, you will join a small but growing group that serves as a central resource for the division, working on specific projects with business and research groups and developing understanding and analysis tools for use by the broader engineering and scientific community, you will find no place better than the Gore facility. The ideal candidate will: · Be passionate about enhancing the cultures fundamental understanding of products that are the highest value in their class · Be energized by working for a world-class manufacturer and collaborating on cross-functional teams · Recognize the importance of building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships In this internship, you will use your expertise in scientific simulation methods to streamline analysis and facilitate discovery. You will develop complex numerical models, provide quantitative analyses, and train across multiple disciplinary functions. Responsibilities include: -Developing and modifying physics-based models for a variety of Performance Solutions Division applications -Collaborating with technical associates to deliver useful quantitative analyses -Reviewing and writing technical documents -Presenting and communicating technical analyses to Gore associates Required Job Qualifications: -Graduate student in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, or a comparable field -Knowledge of numerical methods for solving nonlinear algebraic and differential equations -Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics, CAD systems, or scientific computing -Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office -Excellent communication and presentation skills Desirable Job Qualifications: -Knowledge of CFD simulation software packages such as StarCCM+, Comsol, and/or Ansys Fluent -Experience in multiphase flow modeling including Volume of Fluid, Eulerian multiphase modeling, Discrete Element Method (DEM), and/or Lattice Boltzmann methods -Material and kinetics model development -Experience in Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) -Programming ability in Matlab or Python -Proficient in using Solidworks -Experience conducting experiments or collaborating with experimentalists -Good technical writing skills
